  1. this is not a nazi law they are enforcing. it is a much older law in the germany tradition which gives everyone the right to visit a public school.

in germany we see it as a duty of the state to enable everyone to get a good education in a public school to avoid any political or religious fundamentalism.

it’s not in question whether parents can be able to teach their children properly. but how will someone become a good and responsible citizen who is not educated to live in the community, in which he is expected to take responsibility when he is grown up?

i know of successful experiences of homeschooling. but school is not only about knowledge but also about socialisation. and always to stay in the same personal context seems to avoid some valuable opportunities for the development of the children.

about nietzsche and darwin i can only say that creationism or intelligent design is not very common thing among european christians, since the christian denominations in europe do not even see the contradiction between the biblical story of creation and the scientific archievments of darwin and others.

i am not sure whether it ist common knowledge in the usa that european christians see those things mainly different. and it usually makes me very angry when even european atheists do not know those differences.

  2. “Christian parents want to have the right to teach their children the truth”

Christians aren’t interested in the truth. They’re interested in ancient myths. Please recognize the difference.

“the truth but the state demands the right to teach your children about the atheist heroes like Darwin and Nitzsche.”

Darwin isn’t an “atheist hero”, he is a human hero and the most significant scientist ever to live. It’s called reason. Do you know that word, “reason”?

  3. Sir what happens when the state is taken over by hoodlums?

I could understand it if the children were not educated by they are.

But they are not being molded, that is the problem.

  4. Molded? By what? And how is that different from receiving indoctrination at home?

And what hoodlums are you referring to, exactly?

  5. Matt we have seen dictators burn books as in all Communist countries. Every dictator wants to re-educate the masses, to use a marxist phrase.

Matt Parents love thier children in normal relationship but the srate has pften destroyed children and handicapped them deliberately. Read what the state did under apartheid in South Africa.

Why should the state demand a monopoly o educate your kid?

State eduacation is a mess in countries like Britain and United States of America

  6. While we can look at the US model of Christian parents teaching their kids and having a decent success rate…the same type model isn’t exactly a good way for the German situation to work.

I’ve lived in Germany for fifteen years…and the Germans who did university work…might be able to carry out this “chore”….but the ones who finished Haupt Schule….won’t be able to comprehend or carry out the teaching tasks. The German education system is built on the idea that by the fifth grade….you split the class up into three groups…unlike the US model where we just keep trudging onward. The three groups….basically the kids destined for university, the kids with some smarts, and the really slow group. This last one I mentioned…..go to the Haupt Schule…..and basically learn enough to get a occupation and not much more. Toss in a delay in ten years before they have kids who would need schooling….and this would be a terrible mess.

Adding to the issue…is the introduction of thousands upon thousands of foreigners in Germany….who today aren’t making a real attempt to integrate….so schools are the last possible chance to get these characters thinking in line with the society.

There are things in the US which can fit into German society and improve it….but this isn’t one of them.
