We have not had too much hating on this blog but the threa above raises question about why is there so much hatred in cyberspace.  There is a christian forum were I cannot stay for more than two minutes in given the level of hatred around.

  1. I find it comforting that Ray Comfort is completely non-influential. Nobody who isn’t already a Christian would find his arguments convincing.

  2. Indeed – Ray Comfort is a first-class moron. His videoclips on the banana and peanut butter as proof of his god are priceless.

One thing that he says deserves a response though:

I want to get under your skin and ask why you don’t have the courage to even whisper to Moslems what you keep shouting at Christians. Prove me wrong. Get onto a Moslem website and tell them that you don’t believe their god exists.
Do you KNOW of any Muslim websites like that? I don’t. I’d happily prove him wrong, but I don’t come across Islamic idiocy on the web. I do however come across plenty of Christian stupidity on the web.

  4. While Muslims are, on average, more violent, more misogynistic, more anti-homosexual, more you-get-the-picture than Christians, Christians are much better than Muslims at embarressing themselves and defaming their own religion. I think that two thirds of the damage done against Christianity is self-inflicted.

Dawkinswatch, by the way, is a fine example of Christian embarressment. He is doing much for our cause.

  5. Just taking a look at WhyIslam.org, I’m struck by the fact that although it is a religious website, it’s actually rather respectable. Taking a look through the forum discussions, I might not agree with them, but they don’t have the determined stupidity that I find in so many devout Christians that I meet. Also, the front page of the website responsibly reflects scientific consensus, and a reasonable position on morality and ethics, very much unlike the Moral Majority, the Family Research Council, the Christian Coalition, and the 700 Club in the United States. These organizations are aggressively pushing radical, ridiculous, and unfounded agendas.

So unless you have an Islamic website worth criticizing to share with me, I’ll stick with reserving the majority of my criticism for devoutly stupid Christians.

  8. I don’t think that Dawkinswatch is making a death threat. He’s just trying to provoke us.

  9. If that’s a provocation, okay. But I was simply wondering whether that qualified as a thought. I mean, it certainly wasn’t an intelligent thought, but was it a thought at all?

  10. What is disturbing about this is that this is an important issue and Expelled clearly just wants to profit on the inevitable conflict. They show it to the religious leaders, build a little hype within the religious community, then proclaim a lack of “fairness” after the movie gets critiqued. Then the true believers — who’ve been told by their pastors how important this fim is — can claim to be under attack by the “leftist atheists” again.

    Can’t wait.
