Exposing Evolution As A Mess and Atheism As Hot-Air!

Are The Four Gospels Historical Documents?

with 7 comments

Well there has been a lot of controversy generated over some of the Gnostic gospel and that has been used as a means to justify dismissing all the gospels as historical documents and Bezel333 looks at why the four gospel books are reliable manuscripts. This will not be the last video from this source.

  1. Of course they are not historical. They claim that a man was some kind of god and ran around performing magic tricks before he died and came back from the dead. These things are not possible, thus, these books are unreliable.

If some evidence can be shown for these magic tricks (water into wine, etc.) then perhaps we can move forward in such a discussion as this. For now, we are stuck with the fact that these books are clear works of fiction about magic.

  3. Well, in a sense they are historical – although they cherry-pick a certain wacko’s perspective. That is, there have been a multitude of people through the ages (a dozen or so in the 20th Century alone) who have claimed to be the savior sent by their god – yet Christians choose to believe that one of them, but not the others, was telling the truth.

And I’ve heard that there were at least a dozen gospels of Jesus – so, there could easily have been 200 self-proclaimed saviors in the last 2000 years, with 2000 gospels.

So (Evangelical, anyway) Christians appear to apply their logic only when it benefits them.

  4. Mike,
Sorry, I forgot to add that while they may be historical in a sense, you’re certainly correct in that they are ridiculously illogical, very badly-recorded histories.

  5. Why do you secular athiests hate God so much? What has he done to you?

  6. Which god? I don’t hate Thor, Zeus, Ra, Yahweh or Allah. That is, they haven’t done anything to me (probably because THEY’RE NOT REAL).

  7. Angryxtian, what have you been smoking? What is it that you don’t get? As secular atheists we don’t hate your little myths. We don’t think they are true?

As to your next question, your god has done nothing to me, as a figment of the collective imagination can’t really do anything.

Now misguided fools acting on the behalf of their imaginary friends have done plenty to me, and to others and society throughout history. It’s those people I have a problem with.
