Theistic Evolution: Hedging their Bets

These theistic evolutionist are a funny lot, really, why do they need to hedge their bets that blatantly? I guess if someone has a media campaign like the Evolutionists have some people lose the heart for a fight.

We will be visiting this video to look at the arguements Kent Hovind is using to hammer the point that theistic evolution is merely a perpetuatic of the lie that is evolution and it gives it respectability.

All the liberal christians believe in theistic evolution, well that is how they reconcile their own disbelief.

  1. Kent Hovind is a joke.

    15 years as a high school math teacher (what school(s)?) doesn’t give him much credibility.

    Using the bible as a science text as a basis for his theories-and therefore anything that contradicts the bible, no matter what the evidence is, is automatically false-is not science.

    Hovind really does not provide much of a case against evolution by constantly calling it a religion and comparing it to the ‘moral’ teachings of the bible. His knowledge of evolutionary theory is almost as bad as yours.

    “Design that is degenerating”…now that is a good line!

    Keep using his videos please. Kent Hovind and his ideas show just how ignorant Young Earth Creationists are.

  2. Brother Nobody,

    Give me evidence for evolution. I can see where it come from.

  3. D.W., you could start by reading “Observed Instances of Speciation” (Boxhorn), “Some More Observed Speciation Effects” (Stassen et al.), and “At the Water’s Edge” (Zimmer). Knowing that you probably will not attempt reading any of that try this;
    Cheirolepis, Eusthenopteron, Osteolepis, and Sterropterygion, these among others show the evolution of fish to amphibian. Then amphibian to reptile, how about (again, among others)Hylonomus, Limnoscelis, Paleothyris, and Proterogyrinus. Now I could provide more but you will just say that they are just bones and prove nothing, or something to that effect. Right? The evolutionary process happens over such a long period of time that the only way we have to observe the evolution of life is through the fossil record, which supports evolution…and an old earth.
    Still don’t buy it do you? How about this; the very rapid evolution of viruses and bacteria. Antibiotic resistant strains of many types of bacteria have evolved from strains that were very susceptible to these same antibodies. I could give you links, but that’s been done before – you already have your mind made up.
    Let’s see your evidence that supports your beliefs.

  4. No hedged bets about it… the case for evolution is compelling, as evidenced by nature itself. So theistic evolution has to be a given then if you also believe Jesus Christ is Lord.

  5. @ Brett until Evolutionist tell us what happened, how can we say that Evolution is true?

    • We can say evolution is true because findings in nature and sciences over the past 150 years have never refuted the theory, but have only reinforced it.. ie like Genetics.

      But if a person has an ideological devotion to a literal interpretation of Genesis, then the evidence is irrelevant… because no matter how convincing the evidence presented, it is very difficult for such a person to accept something that might undermine a linchpin of faith which is so dear to them.

      Straight down the line though, I don’t mind if a person wants to reject evolution on those grounds. It doesn’t phase me as there are more important things.. ie things like God longing for relationship with each one of us. Something so nonsensical to the rational mind, yet its true, and the human spirit longs for it.

  6. “…until Evolutionist tell us what happened, how can we say that Evolution is true?”

    What happened? What do you mean? The theory of evolution is the only explanation for the origin of life that accounts for the fossil, anatomical, molecular (including genetic), behavioral and geological evidence.
    The “God did it” thing just doesn’t hold up to logical, thinking people. Mankind learns more as time moves on, we no longer need to accept folklore as “what happened”.

  8. I have given you examples.
    I have given you book sources.
    I have given you links.
    You continue to ignore.
    Since you seem to ignore EVERYTHING that threatens your beliefs then there is not much else to do.

    Now, I’ve asked you before (re-read my replies above)and I’ve seen nothing – LET’S SEE YOUR EVIDENCE THAT SUPPORTS YOUR BELIEFS!

  9. “Nobody please, you need to show us that evidence sometime soon.”

    Obviously you didn’t bother reading any comments if they contained more than a sentence or two, so I’ll repost below in a easier manner.

    For evidence read;
    “Observed Instances of Speciation” (Boxhorn)
    “Some More Observed Speciation Effects” (Stassen…)
    “At the Water’s Edge” (Zimmer)

    In the fossil record there are many examples, here are a few;

    Cheirolepis, Eusthenopteron, Osteolepis, and Sterropterygion, these among others show the evolution of fish to amphibian.

    Hylonomus, Limnoscelis, Paleothyris, and Proterogyrinus. Those among others show the transition of amphibian to reptile.

    The evolutionary process happens over such a long period of time that the only way we have to observe the evolution of life is through the fossil record, which supports evolution…and an old earth.

    Then I talked about the very rapid evolution of viruses and bacteria. This has been observed well within our lifetimes.

    So, for evidence I gave you book sources, examples and, in the past, plenty of links.

  10. I was thinking along a similar line, it seems like a hedge. I wrote on the topic along the same lines: http://www.eacology.com/2012/05/theistic-evolution-christian-lenses.html
